Having just played three huge East Coast shows in Australia, ‘Lucid Dreams’ rapper Juice WRLD has been pronounced dead after suffering a “medical emergency” at a Chicago airport. As reported on Rolling Stone, the Chicago Police Department has stated, “no signs of foul play [were] evident to officers.” “Whether this is a narcotics issue or not is yet to be determined.”
The death has left the rap world rattled having once again lost a promising talent at such a young age. With his debut record Goodbye & Good Riddance still booming from speakers around the globe, it’s hard not to be reminded of fellow young rappers who have died in recent times, Lil Peep and XXXTentacion.
Interscope Geffen A&M Records said of Juice WRLD’s death in a statement, “Juice made a profound impact on the world in such a short period of time. He was a gentle soul, whose creativity knew no bounds, an exceptional human being and artist who loved and cared for his fans above everything else. To lose someone so kind and so close to our hearts is devastating. Our thoughts are with Juice’s family and friends, everyone at his label Grade A, and his millions of fans around the world.”
Aussie rapper, collaborator and recent touring pal The Kid Laroi is among the many to pay tribute to Juice via social media:
