Sydney EDM veterans RÜFÜS DU SOL have made a euphoric return to the EDM ionosphere with their first new music in three years, dropping their latest single ‘Alive’ along with a surrealist-heavy clip.
The new offering sees the LA-based group double down on the ingredients that prompted the world to fall in love with 2018’s Solace, cosmic synths and mind-bending textures merging and shifting in hypnotic fashion. And singer Tyrone Lindqvist’s vocals are as pure as ever, totally gentle as he narrates our sonic adventure into the unknown.
It all works blissfully on the hook, Tyrone’s falsetto interspersed upon the fast-paced drums and alien-like drones. The minimalism of the visuals really help to maximise the track’s impact as well, the single shot of the blue cavern with the occasional animation helping to transfix you into the auditory world of ‘Alive.’
Speaking on the atmospheric new track, frontman Tyrone Lindqvist explains “It’s a heavier song in some ways, but at its core it’s hopeful. We are – all of us – living in this transitional moment right now and we wanted to focus on the hope that the future holds for us all. To focus on the light at the end of this tunnel.”

It’s definitely good to have the boys back. Fingers crossed they drop an album sometime soon to help that light at the end of the tunnel shine a little brighter. For now, check out ‘Alive’ below, and while you’re at it, take a trip down memory lane with the TwentyFour we did with them in 2018 as well.
