Fatboy’s hits get some Aussie makeovers.

Australian dance hero Sam La More has just dropped his remix of Fatboy Slim’s classic dance tune ‘Rockafeller Skank’ as part of the Fatboy Slim VS Australia EP, which is out today with featuring re-works from Aussie acts as diverse as Northlane (what?!), Kite String Tangle, The Ashton Shuffle, Carmada and LO’99.

The man responsible from some of our favourite production – from Aussie staples like Pnau and Tonite Only, through to global icons like Gwen Stefani and Diddy – swaps out the surf-rock style guitars of the original version in favour of keys and strings, giving the track a modernised flavour that’s bound to get your butt shaking as we head towards the weekend.

The opportunity to remix one of his idol’s tunes was clearly too good to pass up for the Sydney-born musician. “Fatboy Slim and Daft Punk inspired me most, but Fatboy was always cooler. In everything from Tonite Only to Pnau, I always ask, ‘What would Fatboy do?’,” La More said of the Grammy award-winning artist.

The Fatboy Slim VS Australia EP is out to mark 20 years since his seminal 1998 album You’ve Come A Long Way Baby and features artwork by Mambo and Mental As Anything legend Reg Mombassa. It arrives just in time for the dance lord’s Australian shows on the Electric Gardens Festival – grab your tickets here, and catch him alongside Armand Van Helden, Dubfire, Gorgon City & more.
