SCABZ Make Punk Political (And Great) Again With ‘Feel Good Summer’
Take that boomers.

Remember when punk music used to be about more than ciggies and longnecks?

Inner-West trio SCABZ do, and once again they are proving to be masters of piss-taking lyricism with their latest track, ‘Feel Good Summer’. Following on from last year’s ‘Brett Lee’s Got No I.D (And He Can’t Get In To World Bar)’, the tune is full of the deliciously fuzzy riffs and thrashy drums that punters around the country have come to expect from SCABZ, with hooky vocals further amplifying the weight of the lyrics.

Here, singer Siobhan Poynton attacks the entitlement and negligence of a certain breed of weekend warriors, the ones who routinely find excuses to ignore issues like climate change. The chorus lines “I just wanna have a feel-good summer” and “fuck the planet long live December”, illustrate the pure cheekiness of the tune as well as Poynton’s open disdain for boomers. Cleverly, it’s still got a raise your beers to the ceiling energy but has a red hot message behind it – a message that may be lost on the climate-denying nine-to-fivers.

The single is another example of why SCABZ have been garnering attention from national radio stations and festivals around the country. Their rise to the top of the indie-punk pile is now feeling more like a question of when, rather than if. So why not catch them in a small venue while you still can as they launch ‘Feel Good Summer’ all over the East Coast. Check out the dates below and head here for more info:
