Happy Friday freaks! Boy have we got a doozy for you, with two of our faves getting together and making a song baby for you to soak up all weekend. We’re of course referring to Seaside x Baden Donegal’s dark and anthemic new number ‘Dog Without A Leash’.
Dropping today, the tune marries that brooding, angsty energy of the last few Seaside releases with that Ocean Alley tempo where it feels kinda like a ballad but also isn’t a ballad, but also you’re singing along to it like it’s a ballad. As you can see, it’s hard to explain.
The track was initially penned by Baden and was pushed aside as he focused on more OA-style music. “The mood and lyrics felt too dark for Ocean Alley,” he said of the track, “but I knew this song deserved to be heard.”
After connecting with Seaside, they were able to really bring their flavour to the tune, resurrecting it from musical purgatory. “This collaboration felt really special – bringing to life something that would’ve otherwise stayed buried on a hard drive,” the band shares. “It still carries the soul of Baden’s demo, but now it truly sounds like us. Hearing our voices together for the first time was a moment we’ll never forget.”

As you can see above, the clip sees them take a very literal approach to the lyrics of the song, with a rogue pooch on the loose in Byron while Seaside’s Darcy Dexter hunts him down. Keep an eye out and you might even spot some Seaside cameos…
