If you’re still at a loss on how to provide flood relief Sco Mo, may we recommend taking some notes from the following article…

There’s no doubt the country has been collectively hurting following the devastation unfolding across the Northern Rivers and Southeast Queensland the past couple of weeks. Add the fact that Sco Mo’s government has been colossally slow in providing any form of assistance, and you’ve got a truly dire situation for flood-affected residents.

Luckily, our mates at Secret Sounds are pulling together a series of fundraising initiatives to raise money for flood relief. Titled ‘Flood Aid’, the charity efforts will consist of live music gigs and merchandise auctions. To start things off they’ve got a target of $1 million, but just going off the artists they’ve pulled together and the merch they’ve got up for grabs (copping one of those shirts right after this article), we’re guessing they’ll have little trouble getting there.

First up on the music side of things, international export Flume is coming home for a special DJ set, joined by the likes of Sweden’s DJ Seinfeld, dameeeela, and more at the Kingscliffe Hotel this Saturday. The week after, the Fortitude Music Hall in Brissy will be host to Bernard Fanning, Cub Sport (DJ Set) and more, while Wolfmother, Dune Rats, Waax and more will take to the Byron Beach Hotel on the same day. To top things off, Flight Facilities have put aside 100 tickets to their Airfields event this Saturday, with proceeds from every sale going straight to Flood Aid.

Speaking on the personal meaning of the fundraiser, Secret Sounds Co-ZEO Jessica Ducrou explains, “Many of our team live and operate businesses in the region and some of them have been directly impacted. We have also run our events in the area for decades. We are part of this community and we’re heartbroken to see the pain that’s being felt right across the region” with Co-CEO Paul Piticco adding “Please join us. Give generously, buy a ticket, buy a shirt, make a bid and support however you can to get these families and towns back on track”.

What more do you need to know? Tickets to the Flood Aid shows go on sale today at 12pm. You can cop them here as well as Secret Sounds’ ‘Where The Muddy Hell Are You’ merchandise here. Check out the full deets for the gigs below. And if you still don’t get the message after reading this article Sco Mo, pull your head in and call a bloody climate emergency.
