This weekend is looking so damn large that we’ve expanded our usual party wrap-up to six soirees that are definitely worth your time and the turn up! Sydney, so beautiful and exciting this Friday, Saturday and Sunday:

Representing all things eclectic in the electronica realm, Sidechains returns to Plan B Small Club this month with a goddamn rapper as the headline act! Tag Shai represents an alien sound invading the Australian hip-hop scene, with hazy delivery over spacey, sad instrumentals. Oh yeah, he also wears a surgical mask and supported Korean trap sensation Keith Ape in Taiwan earlier this year. Huge! Having earned a colossal amount of YouTube views via the Astari channel – also home to our mates in Triple One – he represents an exciting new wave of emcees continuing to shatter local rap stereotypes. Catch Tag Shai alongside Kritty, Rattraps, Grasps_ and more taking over the decks.

Local style lords Numb Supply are releasing their new ‘Knowledge Is Power’ range next week, but first, they’re throwing a little launch party to give you a chance to cop the garments first. Numb were kind enough to give us an exclusive preview of the range yesterday which features lush hoodies, angelic windbreakers and brazen longsleeves that see them hone in on detailing and dedication to sportswear. The launch party is going down at Neighbourhood studios, with Jordvn, Tommy Morrissey and the Strxnger collective providing the tunes, as well as a freestyle cypher for those brave enough to drop hot bars on the open microphone. Go on, up your swag levels.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 6

HALFWAY CROOKS: MAJOR KEY PARTY @ PLAN B SMALL CLUB
WHO: DJ LEVINS, CAPTAIN FRANCO

Sydney’s premium rap party-throwers, Halfway Crooks are among the biggest Southern rap fans we know, so it’s no surprise that they’re cheering very loudly about DJ Khaled’s album Major Key that dropped last week. We’ve had ‘For Free’ on repeat for quite some time now, and were even lucky enough to interview DJ Khaled himself last month. Fantastic banter was had by all. This month, Halfway Crooks will be throwing a Major Key party that’ll feature all the biggest Khaled bangers – trust us, there’s a truckload of them – alongside the best of contemporary club rap. There’s no special guests this time around, just OG members Levins and Franco going hard for six hours. Head along and yell ‘WE THE BEST’ at everybody in the vicinity.

HONEY GIRLS CLUB @ TOKYO SING SONG
WHO: HONEY DJ’S, NES, BAD DEEP, TEACHESOFPEACHES, LIZ BIRD, SPORTS
COST: FREE, MORE INFO HERE

For the past year, Honey have been holding bi-monthly parties featuring all-girl line-ups delivering an all-girl soundtrack that spans everything from hip-hop to house. We interviewed the Honey ladies earlier this week, which has us awfully excited for their Botanical-themed party this weekend at Tokyo Sing Song. Think flowers aplenty and a gin and elderflower cocktail, which is just the icing on top of a mammoth line-up of Sydney selectors. Our favourite Nes will be dropping heaters alongside Sports and the ever-diverse Bad Deep crew, while Sidechains regular Teachesofpeaches will be going B2B with Liz Bird. Of course, Honey DJs – Matka and GCOO – will be closing the night. Head along to the Inner-West this Saturday for a nice time.

BELVEDERE WINTER BALL @ MARQUEE SYDNEY
WHO: DJ MISS NINE
COST: $31.80 RIGHT HERE

Need some ice cold vodka to go along with the chilly weather? Belvedere will be throwing their Winter Ball this weekend at Marquee, and prepare to go deep with their soundsystem as DJ Miss Nine is heading here all the way from Amsterdam for headline duties. Originally from Germany, the DJ has well over a decade of experience under her belt, having performed at Ultra Music Festival, Ministry of Sound London and Pacha. Oh yeah, she’s also a model who’s worked with everybody from Tommy Hilfiger to Levi’s. See Miss Nine in the flesh at The Star this Saturday.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 7

Pre-sale tickets for One Day Sundays have sold out, but there’ll be a small number of tickets on the door – and you’d better turn up at 1:00pm to secure yourself a spot to this monumental turn-up. It’s no surprise that One Day Sundays is in such high-demand, with big residents Joyride and Adit on headline duties alongside seasoned spinners like Klasik and Jayteehazard. Mowgli May will also be making her One Day Sundays debut, and she was cool enough to whip up this exclusive mix for us to host earlier this week which features Nas, Vince Staples and God himself aka Kevin Gates. There’ll also be a beauty salon doing free hairstyles for the ladies, courtesy of Nina Metta – head on down, treat yourself and feel ultra glam!
