The five-piece serve up a laid-back groove for your Friday arvo…

Summer Thieves are serving up some summer-friendly bop with their latest single ‘Tongue & Cheek/Pieces’, the latest taste of the Kiwi outfit’s upcoming album a tasty slice of indie-pop.

Driven forth by a steady guitar line and tenor vocals, the groove listens like a laid-back jam you’d hear in a swanky cocktail bar. The added keys help to add a sultry tone to the track that’s totally infectious.

Naturally, the boys double down on such sentiments, crafting a cheeky visualiser that features plenty of tongue in cheek animations (no pun intended) along with a vibrant colour palette reminiscent of romance and lust.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the new tune, frontman Jake explains, “The song is about the idea of a fantasy or an imagined intimate relationship with whoever or whatever you may desire….We want people to feel that this is a fun song, but also quite sassy and sexy. Hopefully people will listen to it and get warpy, let ya hair down, be weird.”

Summer Thieves’ new single Tonguee & Cheek/Pieces’ is out now. You can buy/stream it here.
