And I thought I was the biggest Tame Impala fan…

Brissy/Meanjin breakout star Sycco is continuing her year of accolades, today ticking off what we’re sure has been a childhood dream for the indie-pop sensation. After being a vocal Tame Impala fan ever since her musical beginnings, the Hot 100 entrant has today been announced as one of the support acts for Tame Impala’s rescheduled 2022 shows, along with Genesis Owusu. And to celebrate, she’s dropped an eerie cover of ‘Lost In Yesterday.’

The cover and accompanying visual is a wholesome tribute to the artistry that is Tame Impala, while still staying true to the sound and aesthetic of the Sycco project. From the psychedelic visuals to the vivid production, it’s Sycco at her most natural and free. And her vocals are as catchy as ever, the Future Classic signee utilising the smoky and airy parts of her vocal range in tandem with retro harmonies and synths.

OG fans will know that the Brissy muso played the Slow Rush cut earlier this year at the APRAS along with indie-firefly Hauskey and R&B sensation Stevan. She had just a bit of pressure on her, what with Tame Impala himself watching on from the crowd (check out our full interview with Sycco here to get the drop on the whole night).

Dropping a Tame Impala cover the same day you get announced as one of his support acts? I think the 19-year-old has just taken the crown as the biggest Tame fan in the Aussie music scene (I’m not mad honestly). Check out her cover of ‘Lost In Yesterday’ and peep the shows she’ll be playing with Tame Impala next year below.
