In some news that’ll be a blow to clubgoers across Sydney, crown jewel of The Star, Marquee Nightclub, has announced that it will close its doors by the end of 2022.
Marquee has hosted a wide range of events over its the years (many of which we’ve covered), with the likes of Steve Aoki, Future, Drake, and most recently, Shaquille O’Neill all gracing it’s hallowed stage since it opened in 2012. It became an even more prominent piece of Sydney’s nightlife in the latter half of the 2010s, with it being one of the only venues in the city not affected by the infamous lockout laws.
The club is yet to address its impending closure, however, new CEO of The Star, Scott Wharton, stated, “We have a good, longstanding relationship with the owners of the Marquee brand. They are an excellent partner and we will discuss doing more with them in premium hospitality.”
No word yet on how the Sydney staple will bring in its final days. For now, be sure to get yourself down there before it closes for the last time.
