Guessing the Grammys wont be invited to the housewarming…

Canadian megastar The Weeknd is going to be busy as hell with cardboard boxes and moving trucks in the next couple of weeks, the R&B phenom just dropping $70 million USD ($97 million AUD) on a new Bel-Air mansion.

Turns out that the pad (formerly owned by Dutch media mogul couple Reinout and Danielle Oerlemans) covers approximately 33,000 square feet and includes a gym, movie theatre, sauna, tennis court, indoor & outdoor pools and a music studio (we’d expect nothing less).

Externally the Los Angeles hideaway features a split staircase that allows easy access from the lawn to the upper patio, which will no doubt come in handy when Abel throws the inevitable off chops party to symbolise his move to one of L.A.’s priciest neighbourhoods.

The move comes as The Weeknd celebrates the smash success of his number one hit ‘Blinding Lights,’ as well as the retiring of his After Hours persona that saw him embrace facial prosthetics and rock some of the finest red suits in existence.

Needless to say, old mate has come a hell of a long way from the days of House of Balloons and sleeping on friends’ couches. Check out some more pics of his new not so humble abode below.
