Taylor Swift has responded comments made by Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn during his LA Times interview. When asked for his opinion of Swift, Albarn claimed that the country songstress didn’t write her own music before arguing that her credits as a co-writer “don’t count” (ouch). “I know what co-writing is,” Albarn said, “there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes.”

Albarn went on to state his preference for “exceptional” musicians like Billie Eilish, saying he’s “more attracted to that than to Taylor Swift.” Touchè. In response, Swift took to Twitter to criticise Albarn’s comments, writing that she “was such a big fan of [Albarn’s] until [she] saw this. I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging.”
@DamonAlbarn I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really fucked up to try and discredit my writing. WOW. https://t.co/t6GyXBU2Jd
