High hopes…

If you’re a music lover, odds are you’ve come across NPR’s Tiny Desk whilst scrolling through YouTube. They’re a dope company that put together super intimate live peformances from some of the world’s biggest artists. Not to mention they serve up some classic music moments that are sure to stand the test of time.

Being blessed with incredible sets from artists like Tyler, the Creator, Mac Miller, Anderson.Paak and more, it’s clear that NPR have cracked the code when it comes to pulling together gorgeous performances.

A real LWA favourite, it’s safe to say we’ve got a bit of a wish list for who we want to see on it this year (with a couple of Aussie acts sprinkled in of course).

Check it below!

Frank Ocean

The ever illusive Frank Ocean, a modern day legend who’s notorious for rarely performing, but we think NPR’s Tiny Desk and Frank are a match made in heaven. Imagine stripped down versions of songs like ‘Thinkin Bout You’, ‘Self Control’ or ‘Nikes’ with a live band backing Frank. Those angelic vocals would echo beautifully amongst the various books and other contraptions sitting within the Tiny Desk office. Not too mention, almost every YouTube comment on a Tiny Desk video is begging for Frank to play, so, it only makes sense.

Rex Orange County

One of the most exciting young talents doing it right now, Rex Orange County is a multi instrumentalist juggernaut that never fails to electrify a crowd. Armed with guitars, keys and a gorgeous voice, Rex brings the feels to wherever he graces with his tunes. A crazy young talent with a super bright future, Rex would fit right in on Tiny Desk and would flood their office with talent and bliss.

Kali Uchis

The Columbian queen of hearts Kali Uchis never ceases to amaze, amazing crowds with her talent and grace. She’s got mad features too, collaborating with the likes of Tyler, the Creator, Steve Lacy and Tame Impala. You just know that Kali’s gorgeous velvet voice with melt hearts in the Tiny Desk office, and would be unforgettable for the lucky few that get to see her live and up close.

Clairo

A real dark horse, Clairo has blessed the sound waves with some of the most unique and inventive pop bops of recent years. Coming across as a real and honest personality that you just can’t fake, its clear Clairo has truly tapped into the cultural heartbeat with her latest album Immunity. There’s no doubt Clairo would bring a raw authenticity to the Tiny Desk that would mesh perfectly with its overall vibe.

Matt Corby

One of Australia’s favourite sons, Matt Corby is a veteran of the Aussie music scene, spreading his good vibes and amazing tunes across the nation for years on end. He’s also got mad love overseas, selling out shows across Europe and America. A true musician and killer vocalist, Matt would shock Tiny Desk like they’ve never been shocked before, his soaring vocals atop his super tight band would be absolute heaven on NPR.

Steve Lacy

Recently hitting up Straya for some killer side shows, 21 year old producer extraordinaire Steve Lacy would be the dose of soul and innovation that Tiny Desk is famous for. Coming up producing his music on his iPod touch, we know Steve Lacy is no strange to the minimalist vibes of the Tiny Desk arena. And if his recent live show in Sydney is anything to go off of, the California native is at the top of his game right now, and would kill it on NPR.

Mallrat

Hot 100 trailblazer Mallrat would make a gorgeous addition to the list of Tiny Desk alumni. With her beautifully written bops, slick vocals and being backed by the one and only DJ Denim, there’s no doubt Mallrat would spread a little magic around the Tiny Desk offices, causing everyone present and watching online to fall in love with her the way Australia has over the last couple years.

Billie Eilish

Hot 100 winner Billie Eilish is perhaps one of the biggest artists in the world right now, recently sweeping up countless of Grammys this year in between killing it at various headline shows, festivals and everything in between. Her and her brother FINNEAS are practically built for Tiny Desk, both of them having this deep unspoken energy they emanate whenever they’re performing together. Safe to say, we’d kill to be a fly on the wall when the superstar pair take to NPR to perform hits like ‘Ocean Eyes’, ‘Bellyache’ and ‘When The Party’s Over’ together.

BENEE

A true rising star in every sense of the world, Kiwi superstar BENEE is absolutely on fire right now, getting three songs in the Hottest 100 and tearing up the TikTok realm with her cruisy bop ‘Glitter’. An absolute creative powerhouse, we have no doubt BENEE could bring the heat to the Tiny Desk well beyond her music, spreading her unique and bubbly personality throughout the studio like only she can.

DMA’s

The Sydney three piece are a rock band with endless amounts of heart, continuing to captivate punters across the world. Serving up some classic moments in Aussie rock with hits like ‘Delete’, ‘In The Air’ and ‘Silver’, it’s fair to say the boys have helped define the landscape of the local rock scene over the past couple years. It would be just perfect to see the boys take to the Tiny Desk and show the world their boundless talent.
