It’s just a fortnight until we make the pilgrimage up north for Splendour In The Grass, and we are pretty darn excited about the whole affair! We’ll be heading up to Byron Bay early on Thursday morning, which makes it perfect timing for these huge pre-parties before the main event.
It has just been announced that the Byron Bay pre-party will be headlined by none other than The Avalanches. The Australian beat legends were the major bombshell of this year’s lineup announcement, having just released their album Wildflower to critical acclaim – a whole 16 years since their game-changing debut Since I Left You. Seeing these guys at The Northern on a Thursday is going to be intimate and nothing short of legendary, with the mixed bill also featuring The Kills, Methyl Ethyl, Harts and Kllo. Tickets go on sale from Thursday July 14 at 9:00am, and yes, this will sell out.
Meanwhile, anyone heading down from Brisbane may want to stay up there for their Thursday night jam – starring Years & Years, Lido, Moonbase Commander and Twinsy. It’ll all be going down at The Triffid, and either of these options should serve as an adequate warm-up for the three-day bender.
