Brisbane singer-songwriter Thelma Plum has announced she’ll be touring around our motherland this winter, and we’re more than ready to be spellbound. The hypnotic indie-pop singer will be celebrating her celestial debut album Better in Blak and all that’s come along with her manic yesteryear. If you’re a fan of Thelma, you’ll know that her sweet, mellow vocals wash over us like love potions, bringing out the romantic in all of us.
Thelma Plum’s new tour is fresh after her historic landing in the top 10 of Triple J’s Hottest 100 2019, which made her the highest-ranking Indigenous artist ever in the iconic Aussie countdown. And we all know she’s well-deserving of the position; Thelma’s dedicated her artistry to Indigenous women, becoming an important spokesperson amongst the youth collective. It’s no surprise – her songs are known to have healing powers.
Thelma tells us how she’s feeling, “The last year has been pretty crazy for me since people started to hear Better in Blak, both the song and the album, and it’s been amazing to have the stories which were inside my head resonate with so many people. It’s given me the opportunity to do some travelling and touring overseas, but it wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t celebrate where we are going, but more importantly where we have been, I cannot wait to return and take my little band family and the wonderful Kira Puru on the road for the “Homecoming Queen Tour”.
You heard that right, you can also sway to special guest Kira Puru’s electric melodies at the upcoming tour. It’s a match made in music heaven. But your fingers better be poised above the keyboard, tickets are bound to go flying considering Thelma’s previously sold out tours.
Get your one-way ticket to Queen Thelma’s dreamy homecoming from Friday 21, February, 10am AEST. You can find them on her website.
