Fresh off his announcement at Falls Festival, there’s now a petition to erect a statue of homegrown producer Flume on Sydney’s North Shore.

There’s no doubting Flume’s colossal influence on dance and electronic music: Emerging at a time dominated by big room house and electro, Flume took a more down-tempo route championing lush synths and intricate beats, leaving a herd of imitators in his wake. Having taken his talents global to such a large degree – as well as producing for the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Freddie Gibbs and M.O.P – some may forget that Flume came from humble roots in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. However, a new petition aims to immortalise the producer forever.

Dance website Stoney Roads have launched a petition to erect a statue of Flume, commanding the attention of the Northern Beaches Council. The petition also proposes two potential statue designs, with the first being a smiling Flume holding a Grammy Award:

And the second being a more contemplative Flume, reclining graciously with both hands on the floor:

“Manly is home to Australia’s finest electronic music export, Flume. It just makes sense that the GRAMMY winning artist is immortalised on the wharf, right? Flume has released two studio albums and numerous EPs since bursting onto the electronic music scene, and has become an ambassador of Aus dance music,” the petition reads.

“If anyone deserves to be sculptured, it’s Flume!”

If you’d like to see Flume on your way down to Wharf Bar for a few schooners, you can sign the petition right here. While we’re at it, here’s a few more Aussies who deserve to be sculpted in statue form: Tonie Carroll, FlexMami, Michael Klim, Tigerlily, Pete Evans and Lee Lin Chin. Let’s make it happen, people.
