Keep Sydney Open are going nocturnal this time around, and the demonstration will take place this Saturday night with the exact time and location yet to be announced. They’ve also recruited the help of Flight Facilities, the local duo who played some of their first gigs at Hugo’s Lounge on Bayswater Road – just one of the venues in the area that has closed due to the lockout laws.
“Why now? In December, the NSW government chose to maintain a curfew instead of embracing smart policies that could create a vibrant and safe late-night culture for all Sydneysiders. Keep Sydney Open rejects the 30-minute lockouts extension as a solution and an urgent rally is needed to demand that the government pursue better policy before the city’s reputation and entertainment precincts are further decimated,” they said.
Given that Flight Facilities recently sold out 15000 tickets in their hometown alongside the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, we’re anticipating that this will be very large. For a nighttime rally, dance and fight for Sydney’s nighlife, head down to Kings Cross this Saturday night.
