Adelaide rapper Tkay Maidza has once again proved why she is such an in-demand artist right now. Fresh from jumping on stage as part of the Dune Rats & Friends Splendour extravaganza, she has dropped her first solo track since her 2016 debut LP Tkay – ‘Flexin’’ – and it’s is sure to be lighting up clubs around the country this weekend.
Tkay says the track was born out of a bender, of all things. “I went to a Mixpak dancehall night & rave in New York the night before I wrote this song with my friends and it was one of the most fun nights I had in a while. I was still awake at 8am and I remembered I had a session that day at 1pm, so I didn’t sleep and went to the studio. I wrote two songs that I really liked in that session and ‘Flexin’’ was one of them,” Tkay says.
Kwame and Arno Faraji will be joining Tkay Maidza on her tour, which is kicking off this September and hitting the East Coast and Perth with a couple of festival dates in the mix there too (info here).
