The streaming juggernaut hopes to stay ‘Forever Young’ in her latest offering for triple j.
Fresh off her clean sweep at the ARIA awards late last month, Byron Bay busker turned pop megastar Tones and I stopped by triple j to again flaunt her undeniable music chops with a soulful rendition for Like a Version.
For her turn, Tones gives a radio-friendly makeover to Alphaville’s track ‘Forever Young,’ speeding up the pace of the original with electronic keys and a groovy supporting ensemble of trumpets and gospel-like vocals. As always with the 26 year-old, it’s the voice that takes centre stage, with that signature Dance Monkey rasp transforming the 1984 original into something wholly her own.
