Party like yo' paying for music.

Before this weekend is a blur of bad drink combinations (gin and cider never mixes, FYI) sneaking into warehouse parties and putting a ridiculously decadent breakfast on your credit card on Sunday (hash browns are how much?!) – you’ll need a soundtrack that will capture the many dance floors, ups-and-downs, come-downs and sleeping-ins that you can fit into the next two days of freedom. Here’s five of the freshest hip-shaking R&B, melted trap, soft-focus pop and OG hip-hop tracks, sourced from SoundCloud so you don’t even have to hit download.

1. Nao – Zillionare

A song about getting that money –  especially a seductive, breathy vocal over Jai Paul-esq R&B beats – is a track I want to start my weekend too. Nao is a London based producer and singer, and the minted ‘Zillionare’ is worth saving your pennies for.

2. Iglooghost and Mr. Yote – Tobaccochewer

Let’s get weird – with the latest release from Leeds producer Iglooghost and mysterious MC Mr. Yote. Off-kilter beats, squelshy rap verses and a fire alarm make this track impossible to not hit repeat to find out what is going on? What even is a ‘tobaccochewer’? I don’t know – trap shoulder.

3. KUČKA – Flux 98

Perth’s sonic-pixie KUČKA has just dropped another hypnotising single. ‘Flux 98′ has a sweet, dreamy quality that makes you want to stay in bed all day listening to pop melodies underwater. The track will feature on her upcoming EP ‘Unconditional’ out August 14th.

4. DJ Premier x BMB Spacekid ft. Anderson Paak – Til Its Done

So the story goes that DJ Premier spent a few days in the studio alongside St. Petersburg’s BMB Spacekid and one half of LA-based funksters NxWorries, Anderson Paak. The result of their combined wizardry is “Til It’s Done” – a headnodding joyride through electro-funk characterised by a hip-hop drum kit underbelly and topped by Anderson’s vocal acrobatics.

5. Gavin Turek – Frontline (TOKiMONSTA Remix)

After meeting on Myspace, Gavin Turek – a 70’s disco inspired signer and Los Angeles producer of cosmic beats TOKiMONSTA (who was the first female to release music on Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder label and will be touring here next month) have collaborated since starting their careers on the now grave-yard social medium. Now they’re releasing a joint-EP together and after-hours slow jam ‘Frontline’ offers a taste of what to come.
