Big news for everyone else: The tracklist for the game was just released, and it’s full of some tasty anthems; both old and new, domestic and foreign. There’re even a couple of LWA favourites in the mix, so we took the jeopardy of selecting our top picks for your listening pleasure:

When we noticed that the jewel in the crown of Australia’s electronic scene, Alison Wonderland, was to have her track ‘I Want U’ featured on NBA 2K17, it was pretty much a given that it would make our Top Five. The track’s a banger by every meaning of the word, and the music video behind it is bat-shit crazy for all its own reasons. But exorcism music videos aside, we just want to go hard in the paint with some Wonderland playing in the back – and she took to Instagram to express her excitement at her inclusion.

Action Bronson’s track ‘Acting Crazy’ was released last year on his album Mr. Wonderful, which we also tipped (with good reason) to be one of the most enjoyable hip-hop albums 2015. What’s not to love about this guy? The unapologetic Queens native and former chef delivers on ‘Acting Crazy’, a bass-heavy, almost psychedelic track. Layered with Bronson’s quality lyrics – talking about oysters and the ilk – make for a definitive baller track.

Coming out of the UK, Skepta has well and truly proven his worth as more than just the next hype. Real name Joseph Adenuga, he’s come a long way from DJing in Merdian Crew, a Broughton-based grime group as well as supergroup Roll Deep. With four studio albums behind him, Skepta still holds it down with unmatched authenticity, he’s one of the many London boy showing emcees across the pond that UK artists have their own identity. His track ‘Shutdown’ from the Konnichiwa made the NBA 2K17 tracklist, and with some Australian tour dates kicking off next month, we’re all the more keen to catch him in action.

Now we’ll be honest, Jamie XX might not have made this list if he was putting up a number of his other tracks, but ‘I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)’ is such a true departure from his usual brand of pensive, electronic sounds that we thought it deserved a mention. This change up is also largely due to the vocals from ATL rapper Young Thug and Jamaican musician Popcaan, who turn the track into something that touches on dancehall, hip hop and doo-wop, yet it doesn’t quite settle on any.

This Drake remix of ILoveMakonnen’s ‘Tuesday’ is one of those tracks which nobody asked for, but everybody lapped up anyway. Who doesn’t wish they had more time on Tuesday to spend goin’ up in the club? It looks like we’re all “about to get, lit” on NBA 2k17, and Drizzy seems to be the one who’ll get us there – seeing as he has a handful more guest features and new bangers on the soundtrack.
