If you got yourself along to Dear Seattle’s recent national headline tour, chances are you’d have caught Adelaide garage-rockers TOWNS tearing up the stage as support. The duo, who generated truckload of buzz following the release of their 2018 debut EP Television, have recently backed it up with an anthemic new single ‘Safe To Say’, proving their ability to meld headbanging choruses and catchy melodies is no fluke.
Having just played Spin Off Festival as Unearthed competition winners, we can only predict that these guys, like Dear Seattle, will be part of the new-wave Aussie punk scene to carry the torch into the future. Check out what TOWNS AKA Aston Valladares and Daniel Steinert had to say about their tour, and their raucous video diary below:
OH MAN TOUR WAS A TIME AND A HALF!! This was the most wholesome experience of our damn lives and it’s all thanks to every single person we met, that we worked with, that we sang with, that bought a dang shirt and that was involved along the way.
As you can see in the recap video, we danced our little hearts out, cut some hair, screamed our lungs out, ran a muck like the lil shits we are, drove for hours and hours and hugged every beautiful soul we could! EVERY show left us with a story and a good experience and we couldn’t be more happy to be a part of such a beautiful experience.
We got to play so many places for the first time and meet a whole bunch of new people and GOD DAMN everyone in this whole scene is so lovely! Dear Seattle were the most accommodating bunch of wonderful humans. They let us stink up their van, mess up their hotel rooms, invade their green room and drink their beers (thank you and sorry Jez). We’ll forever be in debt to them for the amazing experience they’ve provided for us and making us feel so special.
Thanks to all of the bands and friends we met along the way who played after us, for inspiring us to be wicked good just like you are. Eliza and the cool dudes, heaps good mates, FOAMY, PiLaTes; we’re already counting down all the days until we can see your faces again for another top dollar rock concert. Thank you to anyone who bought a shirt, spent even just 2 minutes watching us play, said hello to us after and especially took the time to tell a friend about us. Just know you’ve made two close friends from Adelaide VERY happy boys who feel they can conquer the world at this point (safely and respectfully of others of course). Tour is over, we’re SO broke and we couldn’t be happier. Love Dan and Aston xx
