It’s just a few weeks until Melbourne trio Loose Tooth drop their debut album Keep Up, and now we take a look back at the European tour shenanigans.

Loose Tooth have been making plenty of noise from their St. Kilda headquarters, and have been raised on “the holy trinity of soul, country and Eddy Current.” It’s an intoxicating mix that’s sent them across the globe, and all the way to Europe to support fellow homegrown talent Courtney Barnett. Travelling across Germany, France, England and more, see what Loose Tooth got up to on the road.

Meanwhile, Keep Up drops on August 3, and the band will be celebrating with a homwtown performance at Howler on August 25. Tickets here:

MANCHESTER

Dear Diary,

Today we headed to Manchester to play Albert Hall. It was an amazing looking venue- an old converted church with A+ reverb to hide all those vocal errors caused by too many late nights on the vino’s. The stairs situation was very depressing to carry gear up, but was all worth it in the end by having one of the best shows of the tour by far! Our feelings of joy and happiness were soon put to the test when we spent 1 hr trying to get into our Airbnb via a ridiculous amount of doors and hallways.

BRISTOL

Dear Diary,

Bristol tonight. On the way there we discovered the gourmet selection at Marks & Spencers at the servos. Life changing! We played at the 02 Academy. Everyone at the show was so nice and we had the best time playing! We ordered some delicious falafels back stage, and was so full for ages. We’re a bit over falafels now, it seems to be all we eat! Fibre is good though I guess…!

LONDON

Dear Diary,

London baby! Tonight we are played the famous Roundhouse Theatre in London. 3000 capacity. Crazy! The show was very fun and packed and it was so cool to see Courtney play on the big stage to a sold out room – they were 10/10. After the show there was lots of champagne floating around because it was someones birthday and we drank and danced and was merry. #celebrities

BRISTOL (STAG & HOUND)

Dear Diary,

We all were a bit sad today because we found our that our beloved Anthony Bourdain passed away. We dedicated the set to him tonight and found a nice effigy hidden in a block of chocolate. Tonight was our first headline show in the UK at Stag and Hound in Bristol. We played with some amazing female fronted bands including ARXX and Slag Heap.

Literally every person in the pub was so nice and we made lots of new friends. We decided to ‘hit the town’ after our show. We spent the night being rejected from many bars, and dancing to disco music with lots of cocktails. Just like Tony would have done.

BRIGHTON

Dear Diary,

We woke up feeling very fragile….Coffee…..Then off to Brighton.

We talked a lot about Nick Cave living in Brighton on our drive there today. We wondered where he lives, what his house looks like and why he decided to move to Brighton. It is very pretty here! We played another headline show tonight at Quadrant bar. Before our gig we took a walk on the famous Pebble beach and spent around 20 pounds on arcade games because Etta wanted to win a particular key ring. We won it in the end. It’s already been lost.

PARIS

Dear Diary,

After a 4am wake up call, and an excessive amount of travelling, we’ve made it to Paris! Et & Nel got quite bored on the ferry so tested out some new looks in duty free. When we finanlly arrived, we got things sorted straight away by eating a crepe and a baguette.

We spent some time cruising a market outside the venue we are playing tonight; Bataclan. Someone threw a fruit pip at Nellie and it left a wet, red stain on her new top. She was very sad. Tonight we got to play with Waxahatchee as well as Courtney Barnett. Waxahatchee were awesome! We wrapped up the evening by watching a French music countdown show of Top 50 female artists. Madonna was number one.

LUXEMBOURG

Dear Diary,

Woke up early after a 4hr sleep to leg it to Luxembourg today. The shower broke, and Etta snapped because the hotel didn’t really help in her time of need. We listened to lots more crime podcasts on the way and we’ve all developed a healthy scepticism of human kind. Lucky the Luxembourg-ians are so nice and the show was fun. Restored our faith a little bit.
12 hr overnight drive tonight after the show to get to Berlin in time. Better have a snooze in the greenroom….
