Have you been to Bigsound? It’s an annual music expo held in Brisbane each year that allows up and coming acts to mingle with industry professionals over a few nights around September. Wel, that’s how it looks on paper. However, many musos see it as an opportunity to party with fellow artists and watch heaps of shows, kind of like a festival, but where nearly every act playing is a mate. Which brings us to The Buoys…
Over the past 18 months The Buoys have gone from small venue shredders to festival staples and they’ve been generating tonnes and tonnes of buzz for their garage-flavoured melodic punk. Because of this, they were an obvious choice for Bigsound, and they did pretty good keeping it together – until the very last night, that is.
We sat down with Zoe and Tess from the band at The Hilton’s Zeta Bar in Sydney for a couple of Dead Man’s Fingers Spiced Rum cocktails, and to get the inside word about their wild night at Bigsound:
