Bangers ahead.

The Central Coast artist takes us behind the scenes on his ripper EP.

Have you ever heard that saying “if you want something done, ask a busy person to do it”? It alludes to the idea that busy people are better at allocating their stretched time and resources than people who do not have a lot going on. It’s the first thing that came to mind when we heard Jantoje was also completing a science degree on top of making some of the best electronica in the country.

Throughout Found, the 24-year-old guides us on a sonic journey through euphoric highs, melodic hooks and saucy beats. It seems that melding pop sensibility with future bass has allowed Jantoje to forge a sound that is uniquely his own, which is impressive for such a young artist. Chuck it on right now (here to buy it) and check out what he has to say about it below:

Found

This one is my personal favourite. I finished off the track whilst I was overseas on a surfing trip in Indonesia which gave me a lot of inspiration. I was actually playing it to the fellas a few nights on the trip and they all seemed pretty stoked on it which was super cool seeing them all vibe off it. Im also dropping a video for this song soon filmed from the trip which depicts how much fun we were having at the time.

Something About

Out of the whole EP this was definitely the most fun to produce! The instrumental came together super quick and I found a really nice vocal in some sample pack which gelled it all together. Usually with most of the songs I produce, I start to dislike them by the time they are released, but I’m really stoked with the way this one turned out!

Ethereal

This song probably took the longest to make and is the oldest out of them all. I started to write this whilst i was struggling to find my own sound, which you can still hear some of the remanent future bass stuff I was making before. If I showed you the original demo which I gave to Anieszka (the vocalist) you wouldn’t recognise it. It has eventually transformed into what you hear now over the last year and a half.

Running

This one here came together when I was fiddling with some live drum and bass samples. I found a really dreamy vocal chop and processed it bit and there ya have it. Reminds me of a type of song that you picture yourself driving up the coast too.

Mind Bend

About the halfway mark whilst writing the EP I didn’t have anything that I could consider heavy, I always like to have something that bangs a-bit harder. This is how this came together, a nice thumpy baseline with some wobbly chords to play at the club.
