The dynamic duo – who have popularised the station’s iconic Like A Version segment as well as PACK’ER UP, BOYS – have revealed that they are splitting to pursue their own individual endeavours come 2017. Alex Dyson has been at the station for a decade, and now says that “after spending over a third of my life at triple j, I felt it was time to give someone else a go while I travel the world, do a bit of writing and wean myself off my addiction to new Australian music.”
Having already established a successful career in comedy, Matt Okine looks to television in his future. “Before radio I actually studied an acting degree, so I figured I’d wait until my looks and hair had completely deteriorated before moving to the small screen,” he said.
The lads will deliver one last show on December 16 before packing it up for good, and we’re sure that this is going to be a very emotional morning for many listeners across the globe. There’s no word on who will replace Matt & Alex in 2017, but to say they’ve got big shoes to fill would be a severe understatement. Here’s to years of ratdog behaviour and extremely strong banter – make sure you catch the final chapters of Matt & Alex during November & December.
