Artist Picks of 2014

Rdio decided it was time to recap the top tunes of the year gone, and who better to share their obsessions than the artists themselves? They asked their good friends like Vance Joy, Echosmith, Ingrid Michaelson, East India Youth, Twin Shadow, Fifth Harmony, and Shawn Mendes for the songs that they loved so much they practically wanted to marry ‘em.

The results are both surprising and awesome, a collection of unique tracks that leap across genre boundaries. We’ll be publishing these and more artists’ top 10 album lists throughout the next week, but here are some early teasers: Sam Smith is a beloved pick from Lauren of Fifth Harmony and all the members of Echosmith; Twin Shadow can’t get the brilliant simplicity of ILoveMakonen featuring Drake off the stereo. Jack Dolan from Twin Peaks loves Foxygen’s “How You Can Really”, Vance Joy spends umpteen moments dancing to Sylvan Esso while Sylvan Esso loves Caribou’s “Can’t Do Without You….
