You oughta be thanking your lucky stars that you’re getting any new music from Sydney outfit Velvet Trip. The band’s frontman, megababe songsmith, Zeppelin Hamilton broke his hand while goofing around on a skateboard a couple of years back, resulting in doctors telling the shredsmith that it would be unlikely he’d play guitar again…
Thankfully, the Byron-born guitar slinger, after loads of rehab, has since recovered. During that downtime, however, he was introduced to a MIDI keyboard – the instrument that would form the basis of this forthcoming batch of VT releases. The first of which, ‘It’s Only Human’, we’ve been pumping all morning.
‘It’s Only Human’ comes from a space of contemplation, introspection, and surrender; when ideologies that once felt safe now feel constrictive and the idols once followed now feel flawed,” Hamilton says. “It is a comment on the human condition and the places we turn to put ourselves back together when all feels lost.”
And that’s not all the Velvet Trip news we have – they’ll be launching the single at the Vanguard in Newtown on September 24th (tickets here), AND they’ll be joining Parcels on the road for their national tour (tix here). Not a bad way to start the day.
