Perfect viewing for a Friday.

You know that feeling when the weekend is only a few hours away and a packed out dance floor is only a few drinks away from that? And you just need a song – or in this case a video clip – to get you in the mood? Well look no further that today’s premiere of Bad Hoax’s ‘Flesh’.

The duo’s tune is this darkwave, brooding number with vocalist Alex Nicholas putting some sultry sugar over Will Stephenson’s beat. Occasionally there are these off-kilter vocal affections that jump out, letting us listeners know that this is not your run-off-the-mill pop EDM track.

In terms of their cannibalistic tendencies, Stephenson and Nicholas assure us there’s nothing to worry about. “The lyrics for ‘Flesh’ came from the idea of wanting to be with someone, so much, all the time, to the extreme point that you want to crawl into their skin and wear their flesh – not literally we hope,” they say.

The video, which was directed by Sami Swilks perfectly encapsulates the melancholic tone of the track; there are moments of colour splashed between darkness with the edit adding urgency to the extent that it feels like 30 seconds has gone past by the time you’re finished watching it.

The duo give a performance to the camera which is beyond that of their up-and-comer status, which leaves us to conclude that big things are coming from Bad Hoax. And, having had a cheeky listen to their upcoming releases, we can confirm that following them on IG is essential.
