Sydney-based artist Billy Otto has got just the thing to blow away the grey skies with his upbeat track ‘Eyes Like Fire.’

You know when you hear a tune that is so well crafted and catchy you feel like it’s stuck your head before you’ve even finished listening to it? That’s how we feel about indie/dreamwave musician Billy Otto’s brand new single ‘Eyes Like Fire.’ And the good news is, the bouncy pop number has a fittingly fun film clip to accompany it.

Ironically the breezy tune which puts Otto’s soaring vocals front and centre came out of a dark experience. “It’s a song that came from a day when I had a massive fight with my dad,” Otto says. “The song is expressing a desire to be reconciled, for healing amidst generational dissonance and messy miscommunication.”

The video clip, which was filmed by San Diego cinematographer Eithel Krauss, sums up Otto’s connection to the sun-drenched coastline, both at home and abroad. “I’d just finished tracking ‘Eyes Like Fire,’ and a few weeks after I reconnected with a California friend called Chrisy. For some dumb reason I showed her the demo of the track in our first conversation that day. The song became a little crucible for us being in love for 2 years strong!” Otto says.

“So, I really wanted my girl to be featured in this music video, especially if we could film it in her hometown. Eyes Like Fire the video is shot in Newport Beach California at the Balboa Fun Zone,” Otto says of the video, which is the second single from his soulful and haunting EP Born.

Otto has combined his love for travel and music, touring and visiting over 25 countries in the last few years, though it seems his Brazilian fan base is swelling rapidly (and who can blame them). “My previous album got picked up on Brazilian radio and TV in Sao Paulo, and then the ball just started rolling. My last tour in Brazil was fire. Taking over basketball courts and local town halls and theatres,” Otto says.

You’d better catch Billy Otto while you can, because he might be jetting off again sometime soon. Head over to his Facebook for news and updates on his touring schedule.
