Stripped-back amongst the bark.

Having shared his latest single ‘Mask’ a fortnight ago and revealing a funkier side of himself to his fans, Newcastle singer-songwriter Bodie has once again shifted gears for an acoustic rendition of the track. That’s right, take off your dancing shoes, put on your… ahh… no shoes and come on a trip to a tranquil space in Newcastle.

“There’s a small trail behind my house, surrounded by trees, leading to a watering hole for birds. It’s close to the beach, a tennis court, but none of them at the same time. I don’t want to give it away!” Bodie says. “Always surprises me how little foot traffic is down there. So when I’m in the mood I’ll take my laptop, guitar, headphones, and maybe some snacks to record whatever comes out. One morning I decided to bring good friend Jeremy Minett (Eyes + Ears Creative) to capture me in my favourite spot, as if it was just any other day doing what I do.”

The resulting video is pretty special, with Bodie effortlessly switching between croon mode and a sexy falsetto with the sounds of native birds chirping in the background. The track stands up acoustically too, which is a testament to his songwriting ability, and we are only wishing this is the start of a run of exclusive live “bush” recordings from him… just saying…
