All the action from the tour van, without enduring the smell…

Perth-based quartet Death By Denim have upped the ante yet again in the lead-up to their upcoming album, today releasing a music video and follow-up single, ‘Cause a Scene.’ The track, which follows the release of ‘Small World’ in June, is the second taster of what’s to come in the band’s much-hyped sophomore LP, and if these indie bops are anything to go by, then we’re in for a treat.

‘Cause a Scene’ sees band mates Palle Mazzulla, Nikolas Ilidias, George Gunson and Hamish Macarthur further solidify their soft rock sound, with glorious results. Carried along by psychedelic synths and spacey guitar riffs, the track begins as a lush, sonic ode to 70s nostalgia before crescendoing to chaotic chorus. “Some say talk is cheap,” lead vocalist Nik Iliadis’ sings with syrupy vocals, “so cause a scene.”

Inspired by social and environmental activism, the song’s message calls on listeners to make a ruckus in the name of progress, and with its rich balance of soft-yet-pulsating indie euphoria, ‘Cause a Scene’ is the perfect anthem to stick it to the man.

The accompanying clip compiles footage of the band both on stage and on the road, flicking between home video shots of packed-out mosh pits, pre-show preparations and trips in the crowded tour bus. “Playing live shows and touring especially is what we love doing,” the band says of the video, “we wanted to give our fans an insight into what it’s like being on the road with us.”
