And it comes in the form of their latest single ‘Wardrobe of Masks’ and the accompanying clip, which we’re stoked to be premiering today before both drop tomorrow.
The sonic side of the new offering sees the Beaches five-piece craft a total amalgamation of their past works, the musical textures both refined and intricate as well as huge and bombastic in the hook. But it’s still distinctly unique for the musos, the Sydney rock outfit making good use of space between layers and phrasing to maximise the impact of that euphoric hook, one that singer Luke Saunders’ falsetto glides upon with total ease.
Visually the band once again delivers, following up the ethereality of 2021’s ‘Alpine Meadows’ through an equally surrealist and mythic lens. Directed by Kane Leheanneur from The Sauce, the clip focuses on frontman Luke Saunders as he hurtles through enchanting landscapes, warped visual effects peppered throughout as they craft a kaleidoscopic nirvana.
A personal favourite part of the clip however is the salience of masks (naturally) throughout the three minute runtime, ranging from avant-garde masquerade coverings to face paint; the group pushing the track’s namesake to it’s absolute limits in both a metaphoric and literal sense.
Definitely a quality offering to end the year with, and the best part is, they’re are giving us the chance to see it live, taking to Newtown’s hallowed Vanguard for two intimate shows this Saturday, which you can cop tickets to here. For now, check out ‘Wardrobe of Masks’ above before it drops tomorrow, and be sure to keep up with the Eagle Eye boys on Instagram to stay up to date on all of their latest projects.
