If you saw a rolling dance party in Sydney recently, you may have witnessed Haiku Hands filming their ‘Kicks’ video.

And chances are, you probably also felt a sudden urge to join, as is the case with any performance from the Sydney trio, who are arguably one of the most infectious groups in Australia. And we mean a good infection. Their live shows are notorious for getting everybody in the room moving, and their new tune, ‘Kicks,’ is a perfect example of what they do best.

Taken from their Pleasure Beast Deluxe LP, the track is a slick piece of bubblegum pop that was made to be cranked at maximum volume. Cheeky verses, anthemic choruses, and a heavy synth breakdown all collide over this saucy beat set at a booty-shaking tempo, with the trio’s vocals slapping us right in the face with hook after hook after hook.

The accompanying clip sees the group swarming around Sydney with a bunch of their pals, dancing like their lives depended on it. Directed by Genevieve Gorman Deane, it encapsulates the fierce swagger of the song, with speedy cuts and hand-held shots, making you feel like you’re right there with them.

“When we were making the film clip for ‘Kicks,’ our mates who were dancing kept doing filthy, dirty bass faces, and it made me very happy. For me, that’s a sign of a successful song,” explains Beatrice Lewis. “We worked with Joel Ma, Mad Zach, Julian from The Presets, and Rob Amoruso on this one. It was a great combination of excellent, mad sonic scientists. You know that feeling you get when you’re rocking new kicks? That’s what we want this song to make you feel.”

Haiku Hands will be performing a run of headline shows in December, and tickets are moving faster than a group of dancers filming a video clip in a shopping centre without any permission. Check out the dates below and head here to cop a ticket now—you don’t want to miss ‘Kicks’ live!
