Salarymen give us a little bit of a heart attack…

When your favourite indie rock band, made up of couple Thom Eagleton and Renee de la Motte, starts singing songs about not being in love and breaking up, you start to fret a little for the future of their music. Fortunately, a split is the furthest thing on the mind of the duo whose new video for ‘On The Run’ is being premiered right here, right now.

Tapping in to their mates’ crumbling lovelifes, the pair are able to deliver a breakup song that perferctly juxtaposes the sunny and shimmering, Strokes-infused rock that we’ve come to love from them. “We wanted to tell the relatable story of a relationship breaking down after seeing a few close friends go through this recently, but in a kind of happy-go-lucky and slightly unhinged manner,” the band says.

“On the one hand, you have the person who has wilfully left their partner broken-hearted and set off on a new adventure, and then you have the other person who has been wronged and wants to get revenge. It’s an all too relatable story for many people, with a hidden twist.”

The visuals which were directed by Todd Stephen Logan shows the band in a kinda cold black and white with spurts of colour, reflecting the lyrical content of the song perfectly:

Along with the clip, we also have news that they’ve booked their first UK shows and a headline performance at Waywards in Newtown for us locals. Plus they’ve signed to Seismic Talent, so it seems like the band is living in happy matrimony, which is great because it would be tough to handle the divorce of the mummy and daddy of Inner West indie.
