West Coast singer-songwriter Mat Cammarano (AKA Camarano) is undoubtedly in good form at the moment. Having earned a nomination for his tune ‘Ashes’ at the West Australian Music awards, amassed over half a million collective streams on his debut EP, and pricked the ears of broadcasters around the nation, it’s fair to say it’s been a pretty solid year or so for the flourishing artist.
While he incorporated elements of electro, psych, folk (and everything in between) on his EP, ‘Table Mountain’ is more of a straight-up indie-rock jam, reminiscent of The Shins or War On Drugs. Cammarano delivers a heartstrung vocal performance that is evidence of his ability to capture the minds of listeners and draw them into his world.
Created by Shane Beam, the deliciously pastel clip is reminiscent of the good old days of hand drawn animation. “It takes me back to my youth (still a sucker for animated movies) and captures that child-like feeling when you’re somewhere new with loved ones. It’s an animated road trip that explores commitment, new friends and spirit animals,” Cammarano says.
