Video Premiere: The Uplifting Bell Ends Are Here To Melt Your Cold ‘Heart Of Stone’
Oh Cathy…

The Bell Ends are packing a powerful emotional punch.

Hanging out for The Uplifting Bell Ends fourth album? It’s been over a year since the release of ‘Listen’, the first single from Super Giant III, and frankly we’re getting a tad impatient. Until today that is, with the 60s-flavoured-strummers delivering a pure gem of a track and video in the form of ‘Heart Of Stone’.

Conjuring up the melodic tropes of classic rockers Donovan and The Kinks, but emitted with the raw “coolness” of The Velvet Underground, the tune feels like that comfortable crochet blanket that has never let you down. Musically it broadcasts a reliable warmth that you can wrap yourself up in, while telling a tale of inflated social currency.

Despite the lyrics seemingly centering around a she-devil named Cathy, frontman James ‘Frenchy’ French, suggests that the song is more about looking introspectively. “To us, the song is about self-determination and the importance of maintaining a high degree of self-worth,” he says.

The clip opens with an elderly couple dancing in their living room, which sets the mood perfectly (never thought I’d type that). Not sure why it works so well, but well done to Frenchy’s sister who edited the visuals. There’s also plenty of shots of The Bell Ends playing the song live, filmed by Fabian Svejkar, which gives us a chance to get a feel of their addictively bouncy performance style:
