It’s time to band together folks.

With more than approximately 5.9 million hectares of Australia being burnt over the past several weeks, it’s clear that the fires that are burning across the country are the worst we’ve ever seen. People have lost friends, family and loved ones, homes have been destroyed, and animals and their habitats have been lost. These fires are out of control, and it’s clear that we all need to join together, now more than ever, to support those who have been affected.

Thankfully, there’s already been an outpouring of love and genuine action across Australia, and even the world. International stars like Russel Crowe, Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban (among many others) have donated large amounts of money to various bushfire relief organisations, and also shone a light on the tenacity of these fires to a wider global audience.

Numerous members of the Aussie music scene have really stepped up too, with acts like Peking Duk, Flume, G-Flip, Hockey Dad, Sticky Fingers and so many more raising large amounts of money, whether it be through charity gigs, merch sales or personal donations. Also huge shout out to Aussie Comedian Celeste Barber, who’s raised over $44 million dollars and counting in less than a week, absolutely unreal!

Thankfully, it doesn’t look like these acts of generosity are gonna stop any time soon, with new fundraisers and charity gigs popping up each and every day. By the time this article is posted there’ll probably be several more fundraiser gigs announced, but, for the moment, here are a couple live music events across Australia (that haven’t sold out) that you can attend to support those being affected by the fires.

If you’re a fan of live music, we really strongly urge you to attend a fundraising gig, or cop some merch from an artist raising money for fire relief. You can also donate money directly to the RFS, or to WIRES.  Any of these are great options. You can even do all of the above if you’d like. Just as long as you donate in some way, shape or form. Every little bit counts folks.
