The much-loved larrikins return in signature fashion.

After last week’s announcement of a surprise project, Aussie rockers DMA’S have dropped a new video for their latest explosive single. Premiering last night, We Are Midnight forms part of the Sydney trio’s just-released, four-track EP titled I Love You Unconditionally, Sure Am Going To Miss You, and comes as an unexpected yet wholly welcome follow-up to 2020’s ‘The Glow.’

The Rik Saunders directed clip follows the band from the studio to the stage, compiling footage of the boys during at-home bedroom sessions and in front of empty stadiums. But for all its behind-the-scenes shots of amateur parkour and long strolls in the park, the video finds its superstar in Blue Truman, the scene-stealing staffy of lead singer Tommy O’Dell.

A noisy ditty with shoegaze guitar and anthemic hooks, We Are Midnight marks DMA’S sonic return to their rock roots. Speaking of the release, songwriter Johnny Took said his bands newest offering is evidence of “the natural trajectory that you can sometimes take in a band.”

“You want to keep changing, but there’s also something in your core that pulls you back. It’s cool to get back to your roots sometimes,” he said.
