Having just wrapped a tour for their cinematic debut LP New Growth Eagle Eye Jones are red hawt right now. The album sees them shed their surf rock beginnings and build an immersive sound complete with moments of deep euphoria, jaded philosophising and waves of psychedelia. Listening to it, it’s hard not to be transported to a misty cabin in the forest somewhere with the quintet delivering something that speaks to the mind and the mind’s eye equally. But enough flattery…
Once we got over the rush off compliments when they called into our Sydney studio, we had to bring them back down to Earth, challenging them to draw themselves, answer questions that divided them and get to the bottom of who is the weak link in the band’s group chat:
If you’re anything like us, you’ll be wanting to catch New Growth in all it’s live glory. And good news is, you can catch Eagle Eye Jones in Sydney this Saturday when they take to the stage at Mary’s Underground with Taj Ralph and Crash Palace – tickets here.
