After much waiting and speculation, Playboi Carti’s latest album Whole Lotta Red is finally here, and it’s got some killer features throughout its 24 tracks. From Kanye West to Future to Kid Cudi, it seems Carti was super selective with his collaborators this time around, which appears to have paid off.
Out of all of them though, our favourite collab is easily with Man On The Moon superstar Kid Cudi on ‘M3tamorphosis’, and now the pair have released a dark, cerebral video for the new tune.
It’s clear the pair were focused on making the vid totally COVID safe, and it definitely shows. The visuals see them rapping in a huge, classic hip hop truck, moving up and about as they drop hard-hitting bars and bouncy flows. The rest of their surroundings are totally dark, with red-tinged lights illuminating them in a real menacing flavour.
Can we just say that it’s super sick to see Cudi properly rapping again, the hip hop star going between rapping and singing for years now, but seemingly not comfortable with either. That is until now, with his latest album Man On The Moon III and ‘M3tamorphosis’ seeing him totally comfortable spitting. Interestingly, Cudi credits his rediscovered affinity with bars to Travis Scott, who reportedly helped him get back in touch with that side of his artistry. Fingers crossed we get to hear him spit more soon.
