Windy City and basketball have quite the relationship…

It’s clear NPR is pushing full steam ahead with their Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series, taking the Tiny Desk vibes to wherever artists are residing in these strange times. It’s made for some killer sets, a reinventing of the Tiny Desk format into a totally unique music experience that feels fresh and unique. Chicago’s Polo G seems to be very aware of that shift, and thus has capitalised on it in the dopest way possible.

For his entry into the Tiny Desk legacy, young drill star took to an empty Chicago basketball court with his band, all clad in various jerseys from the LA Lakers. It seems this is a bit of a habit for Drill artists, who are known for taking on the persona of their favourite players as a double entendre for their exploits.

The set saw the star perform a medley of fresh hits, first performing ‘Flex,’ ‘Epidemic’ (which was of course released during COVID-19), and finally his big hit ‘Wishing for a Hero,’ which 2Pac fans will enjoy as it samples the Pac smash ‘Changes’.

It’s a dope set, and a really awesome tribute to basketball as well as the city of Chicago. Check it below.
