Making the most out of the distance…

Continuing to bring talented AF musos together for some electrifying musical jams, EDM wunderkind Running Touch has today dropped the second instalment of his Post Modern Collective Sessions, and he’s got some proper heavy hitters along for the ride. Linking up with homegrown treasures Hayden James and Vera Blue, as well as New York City bass-queen Blu DeTiger, the Melbourne maestro crafts a shining example of the magic of music, and it’s far-reaching powers of connection.

The new session is totally badass in every sense of the word, putting the emphasis on the guitars (Hayden and Blu on bass guitar with Running Touch and Vera on electric), as the four dynamic artists bust out a gritty rendition of Running Touch’s latest single ‘Juno’. Of course, Running Touch’s vocals are equal parts edgy and soulful, bringing that signature grit that’s electrified so many stages around the nation. But aside from all of the above, it’s just super sick to see the musos in their most purest form, stripping back all the glitz and glam for some gold old fashioned instrumentation; which, at the end of the day, is what music is all about.

It’s a pretty interesting and varied group if we’re honest, but of course it works beautifully, their various styles and artistic voices complementing each other to create a truly immersive experience. It seems it’s all part of Running Touch’s master plan, the musical extraordinaire explaining “Bringing together artists that wouldn’t usually cross paths and from different scenes and genres is everything. Especially at a time when it’s hard to physically be in a room or touring with someone else. ”

It’s more than clear he understands the power of collaboration and its abilities to push the bounds of artistry, the Melbourne creative adding “Post Modern Collective (PMC) sessions has been perfect at pulling me out of the song and pushing musicality into any kind of electronic music that makes it onto the album. It’s become my favourite thing about releasing music right now. Being able to go back and share a release with artists and friends you respect is timeless. When I look back on this album – I think these are what I’ll remember the most.”

It’s a pretty kick-ass video, and an ingenious idea to help foster connection between artists. And if you’ve ever wanted to be a fly on a wall at a jam sash with your favourite musos, your time has finally come (virtually anyway).
