I’m on Steve’s side for this one…

The world’s favourite Gemini and the epitome of cool, Steve Lacy, is again going viral online. However, instead of it being for his #1 smash ‘Bad Habit’ that’s been ruling the world as of late, its for his smashing a fan’s camera on stage the other night.

Video obtained from the incident shows Lacy to be in the middle of singing the smash hit when an attendee in the front throws the camera at him. Lacy can be seen continuing for a brief moment, before cutting the music and asking the crowd to “Not throw shit on my stage, please”. Then, and here comes the most badass moment, he asks to see the camera again, before smashing it and walking off, seemingly ending the show early. However, he later came back out, much to the delight of the rest of the crowd.

Lacy has since taken to Instagram to address the incident, writing online, “Shows been fun as hell! shoutout to the people not throwing disposable cameras at me and just coming to catch a vibe and connect :) I had a really good time in Nola last night. I hate that the beauty of the connection iIhave with so many people in the crowd gets lost when something negative happens.

“i don’t believe I owe anyone an apology,” he added. “Maybe I could’ve reacted better? Sure. Always. I’m a student of life. But I’m a real person with real feelings and real reactions. I’m not a product or a robot. I am human. I will continue to give my all at these shows. Please come with respect for yourself and others please thank you love you.”

It’s definitely a cautionary tale for any fan attending an artist’s show. Check out video above of the incident above, and for any fellow attendees of Lacy’s Sydney show later this year, keep your disposal cameras to yourselves.
