There’s no doubt that it’s impossible to replicate a classic Tame Impala set, the insane visuals, musical wizardry and utter magic of Tame Impala on a live stage literally being the stuff that dreams are made of. Unless you’re the Tame Impala Soundsystem, in which case you’ve definitely got this and then some. Stripping down everything we know concerning a Tame Impala show and replacing it with a bunch of samplers and sequencers, Kevin Parker definitely struck gold with the Tiny Desk, setting it apart from other performances on the web-series in a major way.
“This is Tame Impala Soundsystem,” Parker stated after the goosebump-inducing ‘Breathe Deeper’, broadcasting from his home studio in Perth. Armed with a DJ mixer while fellow musos Jay Watson and Dominic Simper utilised their own musical gadgets, the trio busted out renditions of ‘Is It True’ and ‘Patience’ along with the opening ‘Breathe Deeper’ in gorgeous fashion. All musicianship is on display in the vid, with the musical maestros recreating their beloved tunes in properly rare fashion. And can we just mention how sick it is to be seeing Kevin on a DJ mixer? I mean we’ve all heard about his secret DJ sets at festivals and release parties, but we’ve never them in such an open fashion such as this. Fingers crossed we can see Kev bust out a quick set or two in person whenever time permits.
The Tiny Desk is straight up euphoria-filled, check it out below for the best start to your Tuesday morning.
