Got a hell of a lineup as well…

The trailer for Dave Grohl’s new music doco What Drives Us just dropped, and it’s a stellar tribute to the musos that put it all on the line for the love of live music. Produced by Grohl’s Foo Fighters, the feature-film has pulled some proper heavy-hitters for guests as well, with everyone from Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler to Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea to St. Vincent, Slash and countless more rock legends appearing in the new feature; all of whom are all too familiar with the grind to make live music a long term career.

The film follows young bands RadKey and Starcrawler who are trudging along in their quest to world domination one town at a time, all the while telling stories from some of the biggest artists to ever take to a stage. It seems quite instructive as well, with the film exploring how to make a van a home, the countless overnight drives needed when touring, what its like to play those shitty little clubs and even how tricks have been handed down from bands through the ages.

Speaking on the new film, Grohl said “This film is my love letter to every musician that has ever jumped in an old van with their friends and left it all behind for the simple reward of playing music.

“What started as a project to pull back the curtain on the DIY logistics of stuffing all of your friends and equipment into a small space for months on end eventually turned into an exploration of ‘why?’ What drives us?’”

Why indeed. Check out the full trailer below.
