Continuing their evolution away from dance-inspired, early 2000s party rock, Lennox Head quartet WHARVES have just dropped their most ethereal track to date. ‘Everything I’m Waiting On’ feels like it was made to be the soundtrack to an indie road trip movie (you know the type), conjuring up imagery of sunny skies, hands dangling out windows and free love.
The video clip, which we’re sharing with y’all today, furthers those notions, with the lads taking to the open road for a few dips, some non-competitive frisbee, golf and synchronised dancing. If WHARVES are on a mission to prove that not only write delightfully addictive tunes, but they’re also the most wholesome band in Aus, they have 100% succeeded.
“We found an old Canon camcorder and were inspired to do a “WHARVES home movie” showing us having a big day out in Lennox Head,” the band says. “We planned the best day ever, a swim at Lake Ainsworth, Frisbee on the beach, lawn games, lunch at Lennox Point, Ten-pin Bowling, Golf and Dinner at the pub. We realised how awesome our own backyard is and that we don’t need to travel far and have so much to be thankful for living here!”

With a budding fan base in the UK and Europe, we oughta take these covid days as an opportunity to relish in the WHARVES live show while we can – they’ll be playing a couple of gigs in Brissy and The Goldy in May (dates below). Head here to follow them on IG and stay up to date with everything WHARVES, and keep hoping for an invite to play some frisbee… We know we will be!
