Recently teaming with LPX – aka one half of NYC duo MS MR – What So Not has now treated us with some wonderfully glitchy visuals for their ‘Better’ collaboration.

Since its live premiere at Coachella, ‘Better’ has spread like wildfire through the blogosphere and now receives a video that matches What So Not’s bass-driven electronic sounds, with splashes of digitalised colour and iconography from the Internet era. Video director Mafalda Millies says that “this music video features Emoh and Lizzy captured in a visually oversaturated cyber void, dominated with footage surrounding the notions of temptation and seduction; of simulacra and simulations.”

“All visuals are layered and combined with animated, digital graphics, pie charts, numbers—An overload to the senses highlighting the degree to which we are consumed, distracted and controlled by the flood of content directed at us daily. This collage-based video is made up of both, original footage and found footage; and was very much inspired by artist Stan VanDerBeek’s Movie Mural,” she continued.

The video arrives as What So Not prepares for a co-headline tour across the United States with like-minded producer Baauer, and after that, he’s coming home. What So Not has been billed at Spilt Milk festival in Canberra on November 25, and we’re hoping for a few more shows (especially around his hometown) when he heads Down Under.
