Coachella 2016 will already see legends like Guns N’ Roses and LCD Soundsystem reuniting for the grand stage, but now Ice Cube has dropped some huge news that will have all rap fans frothing – suggesting that he will be joined by the remaining members of N.W.A during his set.
Speaking on his performance with The Talk, he said “I’ve got some tricks up my sleeves… I’m gonna try to bring the members of N.W.A together. Give everybody a little history lesson on Ice Cube and N.W.A, West Side Connection, everything I’ve been doing over the years.”
If there was ever a time and a place, this is it: N.W.A are still riding high from the commercial and critical success of the Straight Outta Compton film, while the group are set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame just a week before the festival. Furthermore, Coachella’s Californian location aligns with the West Coast pride that N.W.A so proudly exuded throughout their career.
In addition to the comments, Ice Cube said that his set will feature “some great visuals” – with some outlets jumping the gun to suggest that this means an Eazy E hologram. After all, Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg created a pivotal Coachella moment when an image of Tupac came onstage during their set in 2012.
