Everything about this story is just beautiful, and delicious.

More than 80 chefs from around Italy joined forces to break the record for the world’s longest pizza at Milan’s recent Expo 2015 World’s Fair. The record was previously held by Spain, who cooked up 1141.5 metres of pizza – and Italy put on a stellar showing to return the trophy to its rightful home.

A representative from the Guinness Book of World Records was present, measuring the pizza at 1595.45 metres long.

The pizza, which sat on top of more than 800 tables, consisted of 1500 kilograms of tomatoes and 1.5 tonnes of mozzarella. 30 000 people showed up to the groundbreaking event, and were rewarded with a free slice of history for their efforts.

Importantly, the pizza topping of choice was margherita. Not bad.
